Beetles, Dead Trees, and Wildfires

It seems to make perfect sense that a hillside of dead timber would be more susceptible to wildfires than a hillside covered with healthy, green trees, right?  WRONG!  Contrary to popular opinion, there’s a growing consensus among scientists that a forest of dead, beetle-killed trees is no more flammable than a healthy, thriving forest.  To learn more, read my newest article on
